How to read this page

This is the working record behind my construction practice: every role, and the projects I can name, with locations and contract values. It is compiled from my own resume and my LinkedIn profile, both current as of September 2026. The externally documented, source-linked subset of this career lives on the public record page.

Note the shape of it. The early years are field and project engineering on large medical work. The middle years are project management on a mix of healthcare, higher education, and industrial projects. The most recent years are delivery leadership across a multi-region portfolio — which is also where I started teaching the controls discipline rather than only practicing it.

TuneView — Founder

An automotive tuning-analysis platform that grades engine calibrations against real vehicle datalogs. Different domain, same premise as the construction work: raw data has limited value until it is structured so a person can act on it. See the TuneView page.

Porter Consulting LLC

Vice President

Vice-president-level delivery leadership, carrying project-executive scope on the firm's healthcare and institutional portfolio across Southern California, the Bay Area, and Sacramento. That meant owning schedule, cost, trade performance, and owner communication from design-team selection through occupancy — including the complicated parts: moving logistics, operational readiness, and phased work inside campuses that never closed.

DPR Construction

Senior Project Manager

Senior project management and project-executive responsibility on hospital work in Pasadena — campus master planning, critical-care renovation, and new construction tied into operating facilities. This is the period Bisnow interviewed me about healthcare expansion and the period the healthcare construction case study draws on.

• Huntington Memorial Hospital — Facility Master Plan Phase 1 PASADENA, CA · AUGUST 2015 – MAY 2017 · $110,000,000

  Project executive on the three projects comprising FMP-1: $40 million of new construction plus renovations to the Emergency Department Building, East Tower, and East Tower Annex — all existing, operational, critical-care buildings; $20 million of central utility plant and campus-wide utility upgrades; $40 million of renovations to the La Vina Building, also an existing operational critical-care building; and $10 million of NPC-4 seismic upgrades to MEP systems throughout those buildings.

• Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center, Pasadena PASADENA, CA · FEBRUARY 2015 – FEBRUARY 2017 · $60,000,000

  Senior project manager on an approximately 165,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center — 75,000 square feet of clinical space and 90,000 square feet of underground parking for 250 stalls — including clinical exam, diagnostic, outpatient surgery, and rehabilitation units with two operating rooms. The scope covered demolition of two one-story structures, make-ready work, three-story excavation and shoring, a self-performed post-tensioned concrete parking structure with shotcrete basement walls, and a self-performed exterior skin of metal stud framing, air and water barrier, rigid insulation, metal panel, and seven different glazing types. DPR's project release records the structural milestone and identifies me as its senior project manager.

MarketOne Builders, Inc.

Project Manager

Design-build commercial and industrial delivery, including the specialized mechanical and refrigeration work that makes cold storage unforgiving of loose numbers.

• Bogle Vineyards Cold Storage Warehouse WEST SACRAMENTO, CA · MAY 2014 – MAY 2015 · $14,000,000

  Project manager on an approximately 220,000 square foot design-build pre-engineered metal building over CMU walls on a cast-in-place concrete foundation. The facility holds 65 degrees year-round, served by two chillers and a night-air system designed to capture outside air for efficiency. Delta alluvial soil required lime treating to a 15-inch depth, and the schedule required pouring foundations and slab-on-grade through winter.

• Sutter Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) WEST SACRAMENTO, CA · AUGUST 2013 – FEBRUARY 2014 · $2,000,000

  Project manager on an approximately 6,000 square foot design-build vivarium and surgical suite for medical device installation within a leased tenant improvement: operating room, surgery prep areas, animal boarding, and a fluoroscopy room with a Siemens fluoroscopy unit, plus front office and conference spaces.

Rudolph and Sletten, Inc.

Nearly eight years on large Northern California healthcare and institutional work, moving from senior project engineering into project management on projects ranging from $15 million to $120 million.

Project Manager

• UCSF Mission Bay Parking Structure SAN FRANCISCO, CA · $15,500,000

  Project manager on a design-build, LEED Silver, 627-space, 223,602 square foot, ten-story post-tensioned cast-in-place structure. The project won a 2013 AIA San Francisco Citation Award in Architecture.

• UC Davis Sacramento Medical Center — Cancer Center Expansion SACRAMENTO, CA · $35,000,000

  Project manager on a 46,490 square foot LEED Silver three-story cancer center. Structural steel with a precast concrete skin, curtainwall and storefront glazing systems, extensive architectural canopies and courtyards, and a second-story pedestrian bridge tying the new building to the existing cancer center.

• UC Davis Sacramento Medical Center — Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion Infill SACRAMENTO, CA · $25,000,000

  Project manager on an approximately 50,000 square foot LEED Silver three-floor build-out of the emergency department, recovery spaces, a CT imaging lab, and physician office space within the existing SESP expansion.

• John Muir Health — New Patient Tower CONCORD, CA · $120,000,000

  Project manager on a 172,000 square foot, six-level, 259-bed patient tower with one basement level, tied into the existing central utility plant and hospital. The scope included one Siemens Stereotaxis magnetic navigation catheterization lab, two Siemens catheterization labs, one Philips catheterization lab, and radiology and CT scan suites.

Senior Project Engineer

• Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Northern California — Medical Office Building II ROSEVILLE, CA · $79,000,000

  Senior project engineer on a 268,000 square foot, new four-story medical office building housing 110 providers: nuclear medicine, radiology and diagnostics, MRI and procedure suites — including the second installation of a Philips 1T open MRI in the United States — clinical laboratories, adult hematology and oncology, pediatric chemotherapy and infusion, OB/GYN and procedure suites, mammography, outpatient procedure suites, gastroenterology and urology, pharmacies, obstetrical and optical departments, occupational medicine, and neurology.

Earlier Field Experience

DPR Construction, Inc. — Project Engineer

Where the pattern started: complex commercial and institutional projects, foundational field coordination, scheduling, and subcontractor management. Past projects include the Lucasfilm Skywalker Ranch East edit addition and remodel, and the Nordstrom Arden Fair remodel.

Hathaway Dinwiddie — Project Engineer Intern

Project engineering internships carried through the final years of my degree: 180 Maiden Lane core and shell, the Golden State Warriors new office tenant improvement, the Stanford University Clark Center lab, and Brittania East Grand.

Education

California State University, Chico — Bachelor of Science, Construction Management, Class of 2003. The internships above ran alongside the degree, which is why the field time starts in 2001 rather than at graduation.

What the record shows

Occupied, operating buildings. Hospital emergency departments, cancer centers, patient towers, and university campuses that could not shut down for construction. That constraint shapes everything: phasing, infection control, utility cutovers, and the sequence of who works where and when.

Technically dense scope. Central utility plants, catheterization labs, USP-800 pharmacy upgrades, nuclear medicine and MRI suites, vivariums, cold storage, seismic upgrades, and self-performed concrete and exterior skin. These are the scopes where a coordination miss is not a punch-list item; it is a shutdown.

Controls as the throughline. The same discipline in every role, and the reason project controls is the specialty I lead with: measure what happened, compare it to the plan, prioritize by impact, and report it so someone can act. Measurement beats opinion — on a jobsite and anywhere else.
